RANK ADVANCEMENTS
Advancement is the process by which youth members of the Boy Scouts of America progress from rank to rank and is the method by which we promote and encourage the ongoing involvement and commitment that keeps members coming back for more. It works best when it is built into a unit’s program so that simply participating leads to meaningful achievement and recognition—and to a continually improving readiness for more complex experiences.
MERIT BADGE COUNSELORS
Merit badge counselors are the key to success in the merit badge plan. They offer their time, experience, and knowledge to help guide Scouts in one or more of the merit badge subjects.
The counselor's responsibility is to
Assist the Scout as he plans the assigned projects and activities to meet the merit badge requirements.
Coach Scouts through interviews and demonstrations on how to do the required skills of the craft, business, or hobby.
Certify the Scout after determining whether he is qualified for the merit badge.
TROOP 54 MERIT BADGE LIBRARY
The Troop Library is where all of the Merit Badge and Troop books are stored. Books can be checked out for use anytime and are located inside of the closet.
BSA REQUIREMENTS UPDATED 2022
You can learn about sports, crafts, science, trades, business, and future careers as you earn merit badges. There are more than 135 merit badges, and any Scout, or any qualified Venturer or Sea Scout may earn any of these at any time.
ADULT TEAM
The troop committee is a cross between a board of directors and a parent support group. It sets troop policies and handles administrative functions, allowing the Scoutmaster and assistant Scoutmasters to focus on working directly with the Scouts.
SCOUT TEAM
Did you know that there are a total of 17 official youth leadership positions in Scouting? Typically, scouts will serve in one of these positions for a six-month term (or longer, depending on the troop), and be assigned to a new position afterward. If you’re a scout, regardless of which position you’re in, each of these 17 roles are essential for helping your troop run smoothly!

TROOP RECIPES
Good Cooking Starts With Good Planning. Patrol Menu Planner and Patrol Duty Roster are very useful tools
Every "good" chef cooks with trusted recipes. When you go camping, you need a recipe you can refer back to during meal preparation. Nobody cooks well by memory alone. Not even your mom.
Below are several menu planners for your use. The contents are examples only, so feel free to modify them for your personal planning. Start with figuring out each of your meals, then find the recipe that works for each one. Form a shopping list from all the recipe's that you will use. Don't forget the small things like salt and pepper, spices, and cooking oil. If cooking something from a box, make sure you purchase all the "extra" items on it's instructions.
